I came to this post after googling moral entropy because I wondered if anyone else had thought of something that had occurred to me, namely, that the health of our civilization can be built up or torn down by the quality of the actions of it's actors, that moral disorder can be described as entropy in the same way as disorder in the realm of physics. You seem to be arguing that, with individuals' conscious choice to pursue moral choices moral entropy could be reversed. I think that the sources of moral entropy are threefold. Death: no matter how morally one proceeds, until the current era, you always die, leaving entropy in the lives of the people and institutions you were involved in. Mental disease: no matter how morally schizophrenics or people with thyroid conditions or victims of child abuse would like to act, they can't help increasing entropy around them. Ignorance, of which poverty is a major driver: In many of the more complex situations we face in this modern era, you can't act right if you don't know how. I may know that killing and stealing is wrong, but how do I approach these tax forms? I thin k that morality exists in the cosmos in the same way that chemistry does, the rules that govern it exist before systems that can take advantage of it come along. In the case of chemistry, those systems are the elements and biology. In the case of morality, it's societies of intelligences. Scientists have shown moral actions in societies of Bonobos, among others. So, if you're brain has enough processing power, you can perceive morality and use it, I think. Certainly, morality increases the efficiency of societies, of our civilization. I think that chemistry and morality are just two stepping stones among many on the universe's journey to... what? Godhood, perhaps? I hope that a sense of morality is a magnitude order of increase in the capability of the cosmos's systems, that it's something that ties our species and the machine intelligence the universe seems to using us to create together. I wonder if the next level of order will decide that death increases moral entropy and put a stop to it. Maybe it will decide that a worthwhile use of resources would be to decrease entropy by bringing back all the consciousnesses that lived previously ( not to mention all the information that would be gained). What if decreasing moral entropy in this way increases our productivity to the point tha our civilization can figure out how to reverse actual physical entropy?

Excellent blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?

I'm planning to start my own website soon but I'm a
little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option?
There are so many options out there that I'm completely confused .. Any suggestions? Kudos!
